What is the handbook all about. What is the broad topic, what are the main aspects to be covered?

Thank you very much for having joined us. This handbook is a compilation of tasks and materials used in a teacher training course on Open Educational Resources taught in Fall 2014 as part of the EU-funded project LangOER. The handbook offers all the major tasks and materials, namely
  •  texts;
  • instructions
  • topics for discussions and reflective practice
  • links to videos and other media to watch and learn from;
  • links to online tools we used and instructions on how to use them.

The materials collected here  can be used as a basis for F2F and blended training sessions in other languages. Inspired by Wiley’s (2014) framework, we have divided the content into 4 major modules:

Module 1 – The basics of licensing
Module 2 – Reusing and revising
 Module 3 - Redistributing
 Module 4 - Remixing

I think it is good to specify whether the handbook is A) Is it a training material for educators who would like to run a course about OER/OEP or B) Self-study material for everyone interested in OER/OEP

    Vision

ανάρτηση από Gosia Kurek στην κατηγορία: Initial Ideas
Describe the main goals and vision you would like to achieve with the handbook.

Going open is more a philosophy than a skill. But, obviously, it takes a handful of skills to be able to apply this philosophy in the classroom.
We hope this handbook will help you make the most of OpenEducational Resources and navigate through their challenges.

The initial description from the project application reads as follows:

Following the pilot and the implementation of adjustments to the training framework, materials, in the form of downloadable handbooks shared on a wiki, will be created by the members of the consortium intheir local languages. This way of sharing has been particularly successful in a previous KA2 network [....]
Content will include the topics of open sharing, copyright issues, Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), licensing, evaluationcriteria, OER repositories and suggestions for pedagogical strategies andactivities. Highlighting the results of WP2 (scarcity of OER in the targetlanguages) will be instrumental in encouraging teachers to be aware of thechallenges posed by OER for their language.
Materials will be produced collectively by thepartners involved and the whole activity will be coordinated by Jan Dlugosz University who isresponsible for the quality of materials, based on indicators to be defined bythe quality assurance expert Linnaeus University .
Allmaterials will be produced in the target languages and will be licensed (cf. Creative Commons licenses) accordingly, allowing content uptake in new learning contexts.

Discussion on format and place of the final publication

What is the best format to publish and where in order to make the book easy to share, re-use, revise and remix?
              - downloadable openoffice/MS word document on our website with separate embedded media content
              - google doc allowing for comments
              - a particular platform for open textbooks, do you know any?
              - anything else?

              What about media content?

Extending with further materials from other sources

ανάρτηση από actwww στην κατηγορία: Evaluation
Do you know other training materials (with an open license) that should or could be added:
              - directly to the handbook
              - into the annexes
              - as further reading

Happy to find suggestions to extend and remix!

                What needs to be improved?

Please add your comments and suggestions for improvements directly to the google doc.
While going through the handbook, please keep in mind the following questions:

Is there anything that should be improved to make the handbook:
                • more useful
                • more motivating
                • more clear?
Does the handbook need the addition of sections to reach completeness?
Are there any sections in the document that should be removed or shortened?
What about the layout? Does it support the content of the book well, does it makes explanations more clear or does it distract?
Should there be an list of figures/tables, abbreviations, a different reference list?
